The local radio station 1XX was on hand to record the exciting opening of the new bike tracks at James Street School. After some speeches and then the beautiful singing of the school song, the children provided a great demonstration of their bike riding skills. There are some very bike riders at this school. Cycle Action Whakatane managed the project with wonderful support from some local groups and organisations. .
Bikes in Schools is all go at Onepoto Primary School in Northcote, Auckland. The tracks, named Te Ara Tika (The Right Path) include a 550m loop track around the school, a skills track with eight ‘challenges’, and a pump track. There is also plenty of bikes and helmets for everyone. It was a perfect opening event with lots of entertainment for the many guests that attended. The project was managed by Harbour Sport and made possible thanks to a lot of hard work and financial support from many different local groups. Again Auckland Transport have been providing wonderful support with Cycle Skill Training for all the children and teachers!
